Our Grapevine Rotary Family did very well at Saturday night's District 5790 Evening with the Stars! We received a Silver Award for Public Image, Silver Award for Foundation, and Bronze Award for Membership. In addition, we received Honorable Mention for Club Culture, Community Service, and Youth in Service.

Guess who won the Governor's Cup (Best Club in District 5790)! It was presented by District Governor Gerald Robinson and Marilyn Monroe to the Grapevine Rotary Club! Accepting the award were President Janice Kane, Traci Hutton and Merlyn Sayers!

Since 2000 twelve clubs have received this prestigious Cup. During the last 19 years Grapevine Rotary has been awarded the Cup six times - 2004, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015 and this year-2018!

The Grapevine Rotary Club hosted a community-wide BLOOD DRIVE on Wednesday, May 6, 2016.  Over 60 units of blood were donated at The REC of Grapevine, 1175 Municipal Way, Grapevine Texas 76051.  This was an awesome event with several in our community getting involved.  Donations can still be taken for this effort never ends.  Call Audra Torres of Carter BloodCare (817)343-1271 to become a part of this life saving effort.

The Grapevine Rotary Club once again participated in the Main Street Fest, serving adult beverages while sharing the story of Rotary.  Over an entire weekend, Rotarians came together to greet the 174,000 visitors to Grapevine, sharing some beer and some laughter along the way.  Our very own King of Beers, Bill Walsh, kept the club members organized and on time, raising funds to help the service of the Grapevine Rotary Club!

The Grapevine Rotary Club supported the Feed Our Kids by hosting 285 children for lunch on two days in June.  Rotarians and their businesses donated food, money and hours to serve a meal and smiles!  Mary Jo Tellin coordinated the effort and got most of the club involved in the effort!

This morning at 6:45 a.m. I had the honor to be on Main Street Grapevine to put out the flags with other Rotarians (and for those of you who know me, early is not my favorite time of the day!!).  Today, we honor Peace Officer Memorial Day.

In 2016 there were 145 deaths, and for 2017, 48 officers have lost their lives protecting and serving our communities.  While there are negative issues with an extremely minor number of officers, the majority are out doing their jobs every day, answering the call at any time.  Please join me today in thanking those men and women for what they do and offering prayers that they go home safely each and every day!!!

Thank you to Grapevine Rotarians and others who donated blood during our Blood Drive on December 6, 2017! Special thanks to the Rec in Grapevine for allowing us to use a room for the Drive and to Kevin McNamara of Wise Guys for making arrangements for the Carter Blood Mobiles to be in the parking lot! It is a team effort! We are especially grateful to the Blood Drive Committee...Roger Ackley, Gary Barlow, Julie Bledsoe, Rhett Gum, Kevin McNamara, Tina Nealy and Bill Walsh. This year we have had three Blood Drives, and individuals have given a total of 245 pints of blood...a true gift!

If you missed the opportunity to give, you can go to any Carter Blood Center and give them Grapevine Rotary’s number which is #033317.
